Small items already removed.
Mi estómago se cayó.
“What small items?”
Mom shook her head.
“I don’t know, sweetheart. But I think we need to visit the storage unit right now.”
We drove straight there.
The facility manager recognized me when I entered the office.
“Good morning, Mrs. Harris. How can I help you?”
“I need to check my storage unit. There’s a collection scheduled today that I never authorized.”
His expression became serious.
He examined my identification, confirmed that the rental account was registered in my name, and reviewed the receipt.
“Your husband has access to the unit,” he explained, “but that doesn’t automatically mean he owns everything inside.”
I nodded.
“Those belongings were my father’s. I’ve never agreed to sell them.”
The manager immediately placed the collection on hold while the ownership dispute was reviewed.
He also contacted the buyer.
The man sounded surprised.
